Birch

Birch (Betula spp.) is a group of deciduous trees and shrubs valued in traditional medicine, crafts, and modern herbalism. Different species (e.g., Betula pendula – silver birch, B. pubescens – downy birch, B. lenta – sweet birch) have slightly different profiles, but their general uses overlap.

Often prepared as tea or fluid extract. The leaves are often used to help as a:

- Mild diuretic (“flushing” agent for urinary tract)
- Support for urinary tract infections, kidney gravel, or water retention
- Sometimes used for arthritis, rheumatism, or gout
